What is the Detective Bureau?
The Detective Bureau is the investigative division of the Los Santos Police Department. All of the members of this Bureau have gone through extensive training and will have a large set of responsibilities, aside from their regular police duties. Law enforcement in the form of repression, as well as prevention, are some of the Bureau's prominent goals.
Detectives wear civilian clothing during their duties and focus on investigations, as well as respond to regular situations with a different approach. Detectives can also be seen wearing their regular LSPD issued uniform, depending on the situation.
You can recognize Detectives in uniform by their shoulder patch, brown with two chevrons, and a star.
The essential goals of the Detective Bureau are but not limited to:
- Professional and structured investigations
- Community enforcement and aid
- Leading crime scenes and provision of security at said scenes
- MVA investigations
- Performance of internal departmental investigations and surveys
- Collection of departmental statistics
- Gathering of information that can be used during daily shift-briefings
- Cross-agency communication
- Passing on leads and information to the FBI
Do I qualify for the Detective Bureau?
This question will be judged upon by the Detective Bureau Command. Once you have applied, inquiries will be made to determine whether or not you qualify to join. Once accepted, you become a Trainee Detective, during which you will be taught everything necessary to become a Detective. You'll receive training by Senior Detectives and above. If you wish to qualify for the Detective Bureau, you must be capable of roleplaying at an acceptable level.
Remember to raise queries with your superiors, via in-game or Discord/Forum PM means if you feel the need. You will not be judged if you do not understand a few things, and we'd greatly appreciate it if you'd ask rather than screwing up when you're needed.
So, what do I get from joining?
Joining us means you get to work as a Police Detective and do unmarked work and investigations, plus it's a cool group to be a part of. It also gives you the opportunity to expand your roleplaying skills!
How can I join?
State a notice of interest on your LSPD desk and a Senior Detective in Charge+ will note your interest. Inquiries will then be held by the Detective Bureau's Command and you'll be called in for an assessment and an interview. Should you pass all the necessary evaluations, and be deemed suitable, you'll be instated as a Detective in Training.
Detective Bureau Units:
The Detective Bureau has several unit-style units, similar to squads that focus on several tasks. The units are:
- Gangs and Narcotics
- Robbery-Homicide
- Vice and Major Crimes
Detectives mainly focus on the duties of their allocated division, but in some cases may do any other detective duties where needed.
Gangs and Narcotics:
The Gangs and Narcotics Unit is primarily responsible for gang enforcement, preventing crimes being committed by street gangs and the facilitation of their lifestyle through the production, sale, and distribution of illicit narcotics and illegal firearm sales in the state. Gang Enforcement’s efforts also focus on street-level enforcement strategies to enforce a reduction in felony crimes, which also correlates primarily with the uniformed officers of the department.
Robbery-Homicide:
The Robbery-Homicide Unit is responsible for investigating select homicides, bank robberies, serial robberies, extortions, sexual assaults, human trafficking, kidnapping, incidents that result in injury or death to an officer, and threats against officers. RHD may correlate with Gang Enforcement or Vice with such situations depending on the case, as needed.
Vice and Major Crimes:
The Vice and Major Crimes Unit is responsible for investigating missing persons, hate crimes, threats made to public officials/prominent persons, aggravated stalking, piracy and counterfeit sales/goods, animal cruelty, pimping/pandering, pornography, as well as prostitution/human trafficking. Vice also specializes in evidence analysis such as Questioned Documents, Serology/DNA, Trace Analysis, Firearms Analysis, Field Investigation, Quality Assurance, Toxicology, and Narcotics Analysis. It promotes collaboration with the FBI regarding high profile cases. Major Crimes deal with terrorism, assassination attempts, and white-collar crimes amongst other high-profile cases.
What unit am I allocated to when I become a Police Detective?
You'll be assigned to a unit by a Deputy Police Detective Inspector+ but the unit which you've expressed interest in will be taken into consideration. You can always request a transfer from a Deputy Police Detective Inspector or above.
